Cluster Index Modulation for mmWave Communication Systems

In this study, a novel cluster index modulation (CIM) scheme, which is based on indexing the available clusters in environment, proposed for future mmWave communication systems. Exploiting fact that system are well separated terms of their angular distribution, we selected best path each them and then performed IM an algorithmic manner to convey information bits. It shown by means large antenna arrays analog RF beamforming with indexed clusters, destructive effect inter-beam/cluster interference can be remarkably mitigated. Also, designed hybrid architecture at transmitter further reduce residual interference, where beamformer followed digital baseband precoder using zero-forcing technique. Computer simulations reveal scheme provide better error performance than traditional communication, outperforms beam (BIM) point-to-point scenario. Semi-analytical derivations closed-form unconditional pairwise probability (UPEP) expressions derived both architectures, confirm validity superiority our scheme.
